On Thursday 3rd August, Gwandalan WBC hosted the annual Heiser Shield event.    This Shield was firsdt played for in 1970, so it had been going for a long time.    Originally, three clubs were involved, Gwandalan, Halekulani and Bateau Bay but somewhere along the lines, Bateau Bay dropped out.

It was an ideal day for bowls last Thursday, and the players took to the green with great anticipation.  The teams were made up of 12 players from each club and an official team of four from each club.  The winner would be decided by a total of all four rinks.   Players had to be of grade 3 quality.

After the game Gwandalan provided a wonderful light luncheon of home made sandwiches and cream sponges.

Came formalities, and President Noeline of Gwandalan announced the winning Club wich was Halekulani with a score of 92-72.    President Lucy of Halekulani welcomed the Shield back as this made back-to-back wins.

I am sure that Gwandalan will be looking for revenge next year.

Well done, Halekulani girls.    This gave us the Kelly and Heiser Shields in the one year.
